The identity verification will only work with the following two types of documents:
Passports (Reisepass)
ID-Cards (Personalausweis) (Only for citizens of the EU, citizens of other countries must use their passport)
Residence permit (Aufenthaltserlaubnis)
(Temporary German ID-Cards (Vorläufiger Deutscher Personalausweis))
The following documents are not accepted:
